FAQs
General
How much are your services?
Our costs vary depending on the size of the property and the distance from our offices so use our quoting system and we’ll email you a consultation price straight away.
Do you come out to survey?
We survey every property unless there are drawings available (generally for New Build / Self Build properties) in which case we can work from those instead.
Are you a legitimate scheme approved by MCS?
Yes, we are an MCS accredited company and under their terms and conditions we can certify the work and the installation can be undertaken by a subcontractor, the key clause in MCS001-1 (issue 4.2) for Scheme Operators meeting compliance is clause 4.11.
Are you an MCS 'umbrella scheme'?
We hate the term umbrella scheme but essentially yes. Have a read through the MCS blog post about such schemes.
What areas do you cover?
We offer a nationwide service, covering England, Scotland, Wales and the surrounding isles.
I’m a homeowner, why do I need your services?
We work with installers to ensure your heat pump is compliant with MCS and is suitable for your home. Unfortunately, there are many occasions where systems are not designed properly meaning that the heating is not running efficiently and therefore energy bills are incredibly high. Air Source Heat Pumps have received bad publicity as a result of this, however, they do work, and they work incredibly well when designed correctly.
We complete all of the necessary works to ensure that your system is 100% correct, working correctly, is certified and will serve you and your home for a very long time.
My ASHP isn’t working. Can you help?
We are helping a number of people / companies who require assistance with an incorrectly designed or installed Air Source Heat Pump. We can provide you with an independent consultant report with our findings.
Who are you governed by?
MSS is governed by HIES and our MCS accreditation is controlled by NAPIT.
I am a property developer. Can the installs still be registered with MCS?
Yes, although new build developments are not eligible for government grants they can still be registered with MCS as a mark of quality.
Installer Support
When should we involve MSS?
We must be involved from the very beginning as it is important that you provide your customers with an estimated heat pump size in order to quote as accurately as possible.
I’ve done the training but never fitted an ASHP, can you help with technical questions?
Yes, our expert engineers have years of experience installing all types, makes and models of Air Source Heat Pumps so we will endeavour to help where we can.
Do you install as well?
We are primarily an MCS consultation company that supports other installers, however we can carry out installations as many of our expert engineers have a heat pump installation background.
Can you certify Ground Source Heat Pumps?
Unfortunately not at this moment, we purely deal with Air Source Heat Pumps.
What is your turn around time?
We can provide a very quick turn around to provide our quotation for services and an equipment calculation estimate which then allows you to quote your customer for the full works. Once we have received confirmation that you would like to proceed, the remainder of our process can be turned around very quickly depending on end user availability, and how fast you can return the information that we require for paperwork purposes.
We have installed an ASHP. Can you just sign it off?
No we can't. In order to remain fully compliant with MCS standards we have a very strict process that we, and the installers, must follow. Anybody who claims they can do this is breaking all MCS compliancy rules.
Do you offer insurance backed warranty?
Yes, insurance backed warranty is included within our price.
How do we check if the electrical supply to the property is sufficient?
Once you have confirmed which equipment you will be using we will submit a DNO to the Energy Networks Association. Should they advise that any upgrades are required then we will let you know.
